Papa, Can You Hear Me Sing

Well everybody knows that today is Father's day (or is it? haha...) I remember there is one chinese song about father from a movie Papa, Can you Hear Me Sing the chinese title is 搭错车.




I guess most of the youngster here don't know this movie. The stories goes as below.

In 1985 winter, a dumb man collect an abandoned baby girl and he named her Ah Mei. He is poor but he raise up the girl by collecting empty wine bottles. His wife leave him. In order to entertain Ah Mei, he played recorder for her everyday, and thus make Ah Mei likes music and singing. Laterday Ah Mei grew up and became a famous singer in South East Asia and had many concerts around SEA countries. After returning back to Taiwan from concert tour, she is busy with tight schedule and not able to meet with his dad and little she knew that her father is in critically ill for missing her so much. The man is poor and dies in a hospital. The girl hears the news in her concert and goes to the hospital. She goes back to the concert and sings the theme song, 酒矸倘卖无, meaning Is There Any Empty Wine Bottle to Sell?
